(CNN)A sixty one-yr-earlier Texas woman celebrating New Yr’s Eve was apparently killed by celebratory gunfire in Houston, authorities said Wednesday.
The woman’s family and associates have been discharging fireworks when she “swiftly known as out that she had been shot,” the Harris County Sheriff’s Office said in a tweet.
She was pronounced lifeless on the scene, the sheriff’s office said.
Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said it appears the sufferer “may need been struck by celebratory gunfire from outside the quick neighborhood.”
The Menninger Clinic in Houston acknowledged the sufferer as Philippa “Phil” Ashford, a nurse supervisor at their psychological nicely being facility for higher than 12 years.
‘A gifted expert and good good friend’
Ashford was remembered as “a gifted expert and pal,” the clinic’s president and CEO Armando Colombo said in a statement.
“Our hearts exit to her family and associates at this very sad time and we offer our assist and deepest sympathy,” Colombo said.
Ashford coordinated the teaching of visiting scholar nurses and mentored nurse residents, the assertion said. She served as an adjunct professor on the School of Texas Properly being Science Center at Houston, and was a member of the Sigma Theta Tau Worldwide Honor Society of Nursing and the Zeta Phi Beta sorority, the clinic said.
The clinic plans to hold a memorial service to honor Ashford, Colombo said.
